Sunday Brunch: Pink Ruffle Cake

Happy Sunday Budget Brides!!

I am usually a holiday baker and not much a lover for sweets. But the cakes that I am seeing on the blogsphere are making me want to put on my apron. The cake below looks so amazing and yummy. I wonder if it would look just as good in another pastel color. Hmmm, maybe a Sunday afternoon project.

Let's Eat Colored Cake....

Happy Tuesday Budget Brides!!

So I never ever heard of a rainbow inside of a cake. But when I saw this picture I thought this cake looked both intriguing and yummy. Ok so I really am not a sweets type of gal but this cake looks so delicious especially with the fruit on top. My mouth is watering as I am typing this post.

I cannot wait for a perfect occasion to try making this cake. I just don't know who I can make this for just yet. But I am definitely plotting on someones special day. So I cannot remember where I found this picture. So if you know please inform me so that I can give a photo credit. Also if you want to try a similar recipe visit Whisk Kid. She has an amazing recipe and was even featured on the Martha Stewart Show.

Update: Image via I Am Baker

This cake also gave me a great idea to incorporating it into your wedding planning festivities. Maybe this recipe can be used as a wedding cake (your wedding colors), shower cake (her sorority's colors) or even a groom cake (his favorite sport's team colors). With the recipe being so easy that you can make it at home you will save a ton of money when it comes to dessert and your creation will be the talk of the day.

What do you think about this cake? Would you try it for a special event?

Sorry to Interrupt Your Regularly Schedule Programming... Fire Destroys Cake Girls Bakery

Happy Monday Morning Budget Brides!!

As I hate to interrupt the Spring 2011 New York Bridal Market recap post. I just have to post this one to help two sisters in the wedding community. Whether we're budget minded or platinum brides/professionals your heart just has to go out to the lovely ladies of Cake Girls. You know Brenda and Mary Maher from the WE television show Amazing Cakes. Well on March 29, 2010 their sweet bakery shop was destroyed by a fire that started in the apartment above the shop. When I found out about this tradgey my heart just dropped. Even if you don't have a business just imagine your apartment/home going up in flames with all your money and treasured items inside. The ladies are truly devastated that this has happened but the show must go on and they have to find a way to manage filling the 500 orders that they have outstanding. I would love to send them a million dollars to help them get on their feet but lets be honest. I don't have that kind of money. But what I and the rest of the blogging world can do is get the word out.
The ladies of Cake Girls are selling their t-shirts in hopes that the proceeds raised will help their employees who are displaced right now while the ladies are trying to rebuild. Don't you want to help? I know I do! So visit the Cake Girls website to purchase a t-shirt and help them make their dreams come true of being entrepreneurs alive again. Maybe we can even take pictures of ourselves with the t-shirts on to let the lovely ladies know that we have their back. Let me know what you think. I am going to buy my t-shirt this week. What about you?

Of course I snapped some pictures for my girls so that you can get an inside look on the best of the best in the New Jersey/New York Bridal Industry. Take a look through the pictures below and let me know what you think.

I just loved the look of the floral & table decor created by Laurelwood in Washington Township, NJ. They took the pink & brown trend to a whole new level. Who would have thought to use tree branches, hanging candles and flower bunches to dress up the table.

This purple floral & table decor is another showstopper from Laurelwood. The team over at Laurelwood does an excellent job at taking color and applying it in a way that does not feel over done or gaudy.

I just loved this beautiful pink table from A Touch of Elegance. The pink & gold theme is just perfect. I loved the way the floral designers chose a broad range of pink flowers to decorate the table and the pink chandelier is amazing.
